Imagine one central place where all Google products would be conneced. It would look like an improved Facebook main page: stream of information from gmail, reader, picasa, groups, docs, news, link recomends (+1) from friends, ORDER BY important; with search bar at top and gmail chat at the bottom. For the average user, that seems like an overly complicated thing.
Facebook is complicated for the average user. At least based on questions I get about it.
wasn't this the Buzz mission? It also has gmail chat and search :)
