I was 12 years old and wanted to play video games on our 386. However, being the typical 12 year old, I had no money. I had some cheesy little DOS helicopter game and decided that I wanted to do something like that.
I pulled up the source code to GORILLAS.BAS and played around with it for a while to learn the BASIC syntax and, instead, ended up making a silly little text mode game where the smiley face (char 0x01) had to eat the diamonds. Watch out for those flying dollar signs. They're dangerous!
