We bought some property 3 years ago and there were no fireflies (Southern United States). We don't spray and have only mowed pastures, fence lines, etc. 3 years in and the fireflies are everywhere...you look out into the fields at night and see the yellow winking on and off. It is encouraging and comforting to see nature return. :)
