Comment on Ask HN: How to start a serverless meetup ?

Comments

1. Post on the common websites: Meetup.com, Eventbrite, local sites.

2. Ensure there is time at the beginning and end for networking. If possible, have smaller breakout groups which can work on stuff together (rather than just listening to a speaker). For speakers, encourage interactive Q&A during the talk.

3. Ask local companies to sponsor you in exchange for putting their logo on your meetup invites, at your events, etc. Get your meetup members to pitch their companies on sponsoring. Companies that are recruiting software engineers for Serverless work are likely ones that would want to sponsor you.

Very informative. I like your ingenious tips on 3 especially.

So, in your opinion who would be the best people to contact in those companies ?

Look for folks who've partnerships, community or evangelists in their title. If not, aim for someone from marketing. If nothing else, make an informed guess.

Sounds good. Thank you for that.
