In my experience, most problems and frustration comes from working the APIs (or somebody else's interpretation of the business need) -- not programming language.
My. primary frustration is working with Javascript data structures after using Clojure maps for 4 years. I sometimes write something taking several lines and then for shits and giggles write the same in Clojure and just weep for the armies of programmes who just have no idea...
