He sounds like he's thought a lot about what he's writing about, but it seemed like he sometimes spent several paragraphs speaking from the opposite perspective of his own, in a way that was a bit jarring.

Interestingly you can make a good comparison between "competitive like collectors" on social media and gaming.
The point is alluded to in the article. He is writing to elicit emotion in order to subtly market his two brand new games.
