We had a famous leak with forged data a few years ago in France. It was the Clearstream affair. A listing of people involved in wrongdoings was leaked to judges, containing name of senior politicians, including Nicolas Sarkozy. It was later proven to be a forgery and it helped him develop a taste for conspiracy theories among his followers.
