Sadly, in the view of most "It didn't happen until Apple made it happen" rings true to most people.

I was looking at wireless headphones before the iPhone 7 announcement and found some good ones (Samsung Gear IconX and Bragi Dash).

Unfortunately they are not the cool kids.
