I forgot to add, the best way to focus on design for me is to use photoshop (or gimp...whatever) create a mockup and get that 'perfect' before you implement your CSS. It is much easier to think about design separately from the method of the design (css, html), that way you can quickly test out several designs on paper, and pick the best one to implement.

Net trick: Inkscape svg files can be rendered directly by most modern browsers.

Ohh! I didn't know that.

Actually, that would be really awesome if more sites did that. I usually ctrl+ = my browser to reduce eyestrain, and a lot of graphics look ugly that way.
