Ask HN: OS install from scratch with no CAs

As an interesting exercise to satisfy my curiosity (nothing more) - Assume I have a Linux DVD and install this on a computer with no network connection. I then delete all CA's and wish to add as I go.

Is it possible? Is it a chicken and egg type scenario to determine the first CA? What steps would you take?
