Ask HN: Why is it so hard to get upvotes?

I feel it's incredible hard to get upvotes while getting downvoted are triggered very easily. And I think this is getting harsher and harsher.

Nowadays when I comment, I am actually more concerned of being downvoted to oblivion than to actually make an interesting comment!

ps1: I have created a new account as I don't want to be linked to my main one.

ps2: A comment can only go -4 but the profile karma keep sinking the more downvote you get.
