BuildZoom (YC W13) is looking for a data scientist to de-risk remodeling

BuildZoom is the intelligent marketplace for remodeling and construction services. By gathering and analyzing information on millions of licensed contractors and building projects, we're bringing unprecedented predictability and transparency to an enormous yet problematic sector of the economy.

Examples of problems we're currently working on:

1. Enhancing the accuracy and scope of an automated classifier, which is responsible for interpreting the type of work being done across 50 million building permits.

2. Analyzing 20 years of historical pricing information to figure out the most affordable month of the year to hire for an improvement project.

3. Reconciling improvement expenditures with property values to develop a better understanding of how remodeling impacts home equity.

Requirements

1. Significant experience with Stata, R. 2. Fluency in working with large amounts of data 3. Comfort with intermediate probability and statistics 4. Experience with machine learning is a big plus
