Ask HN: Google+ Pages API Partner Program process

Hello, am wondering if any HNers have applied for the Google+ Pages API. What has been the process? Is it easy or do they charge money etc. I have a new site in which I would like to use it. But am not sure if I should wait till it gets a little recognition or just go ahead and apply. Your experiences will be helpful. Thank you.
