Ask HN: Places to visit and things to see in the Bay Area

Hello All!

I recently graduated high school and am going on a family vacation to San Francisco. I love technology, computers, start ups, and everything in between.

On to my question: What can I do/see in SF technology related? Any cool start ups, museums, offices, meet ups, etc? What is worth seeing in Silicon Valley? I would also love the chance to talk to people that are equally excited about technology. I know some big start ups are located there...
