Ask HN: What is the next Burning Man in NA?
This comment[0] got me thinking:
I have attended festivals for more than half of my life and they're all suspectable to the same gentrification problem as cool neighborhoods: fun/artsy people create fun environments, fun environments attract others who genuinely appreciate fun/artsy but are professionals themselves, professionals attract other professionals but shallower with more money. Or, in short, they get hugged to death. Rinse, repeat.
Same thing is happening with Garbicz festival in Poland, arguably Europe's Burning Man equivalent for many.

By asking this, you're effectively the shallow professional with more money that hugs the festival to death, so of course you wouldn't know the cool ones that are mostly art community driven
Just tell me whichever ones you enjoy going to and I'll avoid those ones, thanks mate ;)
That's harsh, OP is likely "...others who genuinely appreciate fun/artsy but are professionals themselves"
If it’s on here, it’s automatically not cool enough to be the next thing. I’d bet that whatever the next thing is can and will explicitly exclude the VC tech crowd.
Yall get that tech is considered like the evil empire to be toppled right?
The new non-technical crowd of academics and transplant founders from Canada and India are hated, not real devs who built MySpace profiles etc back in the day.
People know that the current tech elite are frauds. You guys took over the industry, gave the jobs to your talentless kids, and kicked out all the good people (mostly those evil white guys you hate so much).
Nobody is fooled by that, even little kids know
Ask one of the cool artsy people you hang out with?
