Who said anything about surgery? He expressed some problems with things like dogs having trouble with profiles, and reacting poorly to the mask/helmet things - that's the type of thing where veterinary schools have literal experts that extension can help connect you with.
Ironically, probably the one thing a vet extension can't help with? Cheap surgery.

ah yeah we call this spear grass locally (and probably also foxtail) and never read what it can do. (spoiler below)
they can burrow their way into the bloodstream and travel down to the heart & lungs. So incredibly dangerous for something so pervasive and normal.
