Washington accuses Brazil of favouring a state-run payment system and engaging in unfair competition with US companies operating in the sector, especially credit card operators.

How ironic.

Many countries already have alternatives. But the digital Euro as proposed in some variants - a personal wallet with limited size, not tied to any bank with fully anonymous contactless offline transactions plus the status of legal tender would be amazing, and truly a world-leading solution.
