So they don't buy any film ever?

To be fair, there's a difference between a movie that gets pirated at release vs one that is pirated weeks or months before release.

I assume it will come down to why the drive was not encrypted. Was it at the request of Netflix?

odds that this is just a marketing gimmick...?
