I’m a little surprised at how conventional and mainstream these all are. I’d bet most of them were on the Audible front page as a recommended book at some point.
Flying Through Midnight by John Halliday - Half war story, part philosophy, very engaging story. Not your typical Vietnam War book.
Ninety Percent of Everything by Rose George - A glimpse into a very important industry, commercial shipping, that we all rely on but probably know little about.
Sparks by Ian Johnson - China’s underground historians try to preserve their past, not just the government approved version.
Toussaint Louvertire by Philippe Girard - I read this because I wanted to learn more about Haiti. It’s an interesting story about a guy who was a slave, freedom fighter, slave owner, and leader of a country.
