On one hand this protects american companies, on the other hand this forces Americans to use inferior models, which can give China the advantage.
It takes American firms like OpenRouter off the board. It still leaves local models and anyone who can fire up a VPN for an offshore host in the cards.
Expect the same results as in EVs: everybody else gets the good stuff at good prices.
