Yes, at some level, indoor plumbing was a mistake. We can solve the problem in front of us but not step back and look at the bigger picture and ask if that problem is worth solving. I can go to my fridge in my apartment and microwave something to feed my hunger in two minutes. But that's no way to actually live. So then we force ourselves to not live so conveniently and have to plan a bit harder.
