Dear me, this is so confusing! Republicans are free market, laissez faire fundamentalists, aren't they? Aren't consumers being harmed by not letting them choose what brands of car to buy? Why aren't Republican senators and representatives denouncing this as far left protectionism?
People in Texas have driven to El Paso to buy Chinese EVs from Juárez, México just over the border and politicians here are trying to explicitly outlaw that, too.
