Crypto-attestation had to be a mandatory component somewhere in this process, and it turns out this is where they placed it: Zoom is outsourcing their Human Badge to a retina scanner that incorporates a crypto signature into the photos it takes, just like some digital cameras from the 2000’s could. One would hope that this Orb thing has a secure enough activation process that the veracity of its attestations survive the year. First to the key, first to the egg :)
