Would be good to understand the relationship of this code original sox. It says it's a hard fork and integrates downstream bug fixes from code which depends on sox. What's the original sox author doing in this?

I only read the git repo text. Presumably one of the other docs or the ML discussed it.

The AUTHORS file is informative of course.

(Used sox heavily back in the day)

Original author isn't involved with this fork AFAIK, but fixes from SoX are backported which is why the author may appear in the commit history.
