I think LLMs can do multiplication?

I previously was able to get Gemini to tell me the algorithm for long multiplication, and then give it two large numbers to multiply, and it was able to follow the algorithm successfully.

I see users here often say that LLMs cannot do multiplication.

I decided I'll look into if LLMs can simulate CPUs. I discussed with Claude and it seems like they probably can:

Ask an LLM if it can simulate a quantum computer. If it says yes, do you believe it could potentially do that?
