8 month old video, which is a long time in the RISC-V world.

"RISC-V is slow .. like decade old computer slow".

Absolutely true, right now. And a year ago RISC-V was slow, like 20 year old computer slow. And next year RISC-V will be slow, like 5 year old computer slow.

I only upgraded from my 2011 MacBook Pro last year, and that wasn't because it was slow but because it was completely unsupported, couldn't run any OS version past 2018, and that OS version could no longer run current apps. And because the battery has swollen -- if not for that I could have just put Ubuntu on it. I have a 2012 Mac Mini with Ubuntu 24.04 and it's great for normal day to day use.

Of course I have a faster server I ssh / nomachine into for "real" work, but for the machine you sit at and edit code and browse the web anything around Nehalem / Sandy Bridge etc is just fine.
