Understanding MCP Servers

Hi everyone,

I've been keeping up with the state-of-the-art in AI development for a while, and MCP Servers have recently become popular. Even though I've walked through several tutorials and explanations, I'm still a little lost on what makes MCP a breakthrough in the AI space. Is it that they act as easy-plug-in tools for models for problems that they can't solve easily or would just make a guess on? This is my best understanding, so I'd love to hear from all of you on what makes MCP important. Thanks :)
