Did the authors of those books get anything? Can’t imagine book sales will improve when anyone can ask chatGPT to:

“summarize the main ideas of this book”

“Tell me more about this idea”

“Tell me more about that”

The authors of the books didn't get anything because this article is an April fools joke ("Update: April fools" at the bottom).

Hypothetically if it were a real scheme, it doesn't seem like it'd displace a sale given the summaries are only for books the library has already bought.
