If you start going around talking about computer systems as literally alive (as I do, from time to time), I think you’ll at least find that other people find this perspective interesting (mostly disbelief/heresy, as if you told somebody 200 years ago that there was no god).
This post sets the bar of being alive so low that even self-reproducing patterns in Conway's game of life would meet it. By this definition, everything in this wikipedia page is alive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_life
I'm not saying the post is wrong, I'm just saying that it's not saying anything interesting.
