Ask HN: Best way to get started learning modern AI?

I'm an experienced technologist and I know very little about how modern AI works. I'm really talking about GPT, probably, but I don't really even know enough to name the various other areas.

Are there good sources for beginners? I ask because I have looked around and really haven't seen much. That made me start to wonder what people here who do know this stuff would recommend.
