Ask HN: Recommendations for Thought-Provoking and Controversial Books

I am on the lookout for books that are controversial or capable of stimulating vigorous discussion. I’m particularly interested in literature that offers unconventional perspectives on trending societal issues. For example, while there are plenty of texts discussing the birth rate crisis from the viewpoint of supporting economic growth and sustaining societal systems, i'd love to explore works that argue from the opposite angle—perhaps suggesting that there might already be enough people and that we should focus more on quality of life rather than quantity. im also interested in books that provide diverse views on other hot topics such as gender equality, political ideologies, and social structures. Essentially, I am eager to dive into material that might be considered contentious but offers substantial, fresh perspectives.

“Fresh” is not necessarily relevant, to me. Hayek’s “the road to serfdom” is, in my view, timeless.
