Ask HN: Pulse metrics – anyone know the original source?

I've been trying to track down the original source for the PULSE metrics framework (Page Views, Uptime, Latency, Seven-day active users, Earnings); The best I could find is a research paper from Kerry Rodden (CHI 2010), where it's just an informal reference and the paper is pretty much arguing against it and presenting a more contextual framework.

Does anyone have an earlier or a separate source for this?

Google seems to be full of pages derived from the CHI paper without any solid background references.
