You can't just send a carrier pigeon somewhere. It just knows how to get back to its home. The time taken to transport the pigeon to the "server" needs to be taken into account if you want to compare with a request/response. I imagine it would still be faster.

There is a significant risk of packet loss unfortunately. Pigeon racing is a cruel, terrible thing.
