I don't really understand why this is trending in the second page of results.
Doesn't look like to be a "hacker" news, except if I'm missing an important fact about him?
For me it is just a regular news like the one I will probably also see in any news aggregator like Google news and in newspaper.
Sadly it takes spot for more interesting "hacker news" that I might like to discover.
In addition, this person doesn't really look like to be worthy of hommages or being regretted from what I see that he has done.

Use a filtering frontend for HN. I've filtered this sort of crap some time ago (obviously missed this one) and it's bliss.
