The sun doesn't shine on me

Sounds quite similar to my early-1990's experience buying software site licenses for Microsoft, Lotus, etc.

Typical prices were only mid-5-figures. Microsoft's sales org was obviously motivated and organized to sell. Even though, after confirming all details & SKU's with them, I technically had to buy it from a distributor. Vs. most of MS's competition didn't give a crap. Lotus' east and west coast offices both wanted to dump me on their opposites. (I was in Michigan.)

In hindsight, I should have quietly gone long on MS stock, and short on their competition.
