If JS disappeared on the browser, would anybody use NodeJS?
The best thing about NodeJS is that it allows you to use the same code on client and server. Not the only reason, to be sure, but without that advantage I suspect a lot of decisions will lean away from NodeJS and toward something else.

I have been battling with my web devs not to use JS and I have been winning.
Every time they say they can’t do x without JS, I prove them wrong with modern CSS.
so where is the CSS-written Nodejs?

But this will never be replaced for a very long time in web development.
