GDPR is not a bad idea .... but, as with so many things, it is never the idea that matters - it is the implementation.

As implemented, GDPR is a massive waste of time, energy, and money (unless, of course, you are an audit and compliance firm - it has, I suspect, been GREAT for you!)

Do we - as individuals, regional societies, and society at large need better data protection?

Absolutely, YES!

Is GDPR a step in a better direction than no rules?

... maybe?

But when it drives masses of people away from your economy, it is certainly not good for those who have remained in your economy
