Ask HN: Teaching OpenAI API class without a Credit Card?
I'm getting lost in the confusion of what Free tier means in the OpenAI API. I am teaching a class soon in a college using the OpenAI API and some sample code. Is it possible to test the API using Python without adding your credit card and billing details?

I would frame it as similar to buying books or a calculator for a class. (i.e. an expected cost to the student) Their usage bill will be much lower than the typical college textbook
