The game is built from the same foundation as the Link’s Awakening remake

I'm always annoyed when developers don't reuse assets. Like, Bethesda made all this state-of-the-art (for 2011) 3D stuff for Skyrim. You could make a thousand completely different fantasy games which recycle 80% of those assets.

Nintendo did almost exactly this with Tears of the Kingdom, and it was an enormous success.

It's surprising how much asset re-use doesn't happen due to small technical hurdles e.g. file incompatibility. Interestingly: for an experienced artist, having a whole library of assets to base your new assets on saves a ton of time, and is almost as fast as asset re-use.
