Soil-less substrates in pots or bags can be replaced year to year, eliminating the need for crop rotation and fumigation.
ouch thats expensive, at least on the garage scale.
I'm having some success with composting substrate and recycling it back into a pile with fresh material. Not great success, further iterations should improve technique.
Most of the stuff they tested would be valued in many context after even a couple seasons of use; would make a great garden till in enrichment, etc.
