Ask HN: What's the state of Chemistry?

I see a lot of news regarding physics, bio-tech, and computer related stuff obviously, but it seems like general chemistry gets a lot less love. Yes, I know all the fields I just mentioned more or less deal with chemistry. Anyone here have a high-level understanding of the state of the field? Is progress slowing or at an impasse like Physics seems to be?
