Ask HN: What computers do you use on a daily basis, what for, and why that?

I’m always interested in “daily carry” type questions, but I haven’t seen one from this community. As I look at building a PC again for the first time in a decade, I’m wondering about what my computational needs are in daily life and how I can optimally meet them. Now I’m wondering about yours.

I run an M-series MBP for work

I also have a couple other M-series MacBooks (an Air and a Pro) for personal stuff, kids' classes, etc

Everything else is on my iPhone or iPad

intel nuc for media stuff (small, quiet, efficient: core i3, enough ram and ssd)

NAS system for backups and media stuff which doesn't fit on intel nuc (sits in a different room, is often enough off)

Windows based desktop pc (i7, 48gig of ram, nvms) for gaming and lightroom (editing media)

Thinkpad x3x0 for linux things

Macbook m1 based for work

Similar, good idea! Thanks for linking.
