Ask HN: Could peer pressure be enough get landlords to reduce their rent prices?

Food for thought: If all the landlords say their rent prices are based on markets, what if the market called/emailed/wrote the landlord to state otherwise and to state their disapproval of how their prices are now. Would this be enough to get landlords back to the table on fair pricing?
