It is usually hard to tell the difference between surge pricing and price discrimination (efforts to charge more to those that can pay more).

I don't think it's a fair comparison to compare current dynamic pricing practices with haggling. I can't go into the pub and haggle the price of a dynamically priced beer.

Surge pricing would tend to make planning impossible and depress activity in that market.
