Though he's just saying out loud what works for all his class- the poorer everyone else is, the less he needs to spend on anything. Full employment is seen as bad, it raises wages and of course reduces the gap between owning/reaping and working.
I think it's worth mentioning Australia has enjoyed a decades long property boom. He has , economically, one of the least challenging environments to sell property in.
