Sad to hear this. Penguins are all around lovely creatures.

Apparently there is a part of Australia where penguins come to hang.

There's a few places they're around on the south coast of Australia and also the the coast of New Zealand, however those are fairy/little penguins [1] which are the smallest species (30cm/12in), whereas the article is referring emporer penguins [2] which are the largest (100cm/39in) and live much much further south.
