Ask HN: What is going on with the SVG 2.0 spec these days?

SVG 2[0] has been in the pipeline for ages, but it's 2023. I've heard[1] gradient meshes have been cut from the spec. It feels like this technology will never ship. Do you think it will ship? Why or why not? And why do you think the spec is in it's current state?
