These graphs are nuts:

The jump in fentanyl usage is intense: http://nida.nih.gov/sites/default/files/images/2023-Drug-od-...

The jump in men killing themselves over the last few years with drugs is intense: http://nida.nih.gov/sites/default/files/images/2023-Drug-od-...

I remember the media negating the suggestion that fentanyl overdose contributed to the death in one famous case, saying it was "just 11 nanograms per milliliter of fentanyl" and an overdose would be at least twice as much.

However, when you look at the cases of people who died from fentanyl overdose, 11 ng/ml is not that uncommon. E.g.[0]:

postmortem levels in the first two patients who died were 11 ng/mL (patient E) and 13 ng/mL (patient I).

But given the sensitivity of the topic, I don't believe it's easy to have a reasonable discussion about it, at least not yet.

He lived way past 24. That song made it overly pessimistic.
