Ask HN: How can a Backend Engineer capitalize on the AI trend?

Assuming AI is going to trend like crypto or cloud in the coming years, how can I, as a backend engineer, make the most of it? What skills, frameworks, technologies, or concepts will be in the most demand?

Is it worth trying to pivot to an MLE/MLOPS role? Is it even possible for this matter?

I think the best thing we can do that doesn't involve learning AI from scratch is to learn at a high level how to integrate with LLMs - in various products - and how do they work (conceptually).

If that's what you're good at there's nothing stopping you from being a backend engineer at a company working on AI.

That's great, but what I am basically interested in, what roles will be in more demand if AI goes mainstream? Will demand for Data engineers or DevOps increase? I want to be a shovel seller.
