Have they tried not paying the electric bill and see if the electric company can figure it out

They need light during the day.

The moral is: when you install a super hi-tech fancy electronic system, always have the most basic analog fail-safe/backup. In this case, a simple "on-off" switch. Problem alleviated.

Man... I don't envy the custodial/maintenance/IT Staff at this school one bit.

I love that the Superintendent's surname is Provost
